Six weeks after quietly decommissioning api.routstr.com, the routing project confirms full client autonomy across Nostr without a central server dependency.

For protocols whose defining promise is resilience against capture, centralized bootstrap servers have long remained an awkward compromise. Today, routing protocol Routstr confirmed that the network has quietly crossed a significant milestone: its last official server, api.routstr.com, was retired a month and a half ago, and the network transitioned entirely to community-run infrastructure without a flicker of interruption.

Why would a business pay for a relay either? That doesn't make sense either.
